The former representative villa of Henryk Piontek, the Upper Silesian starost, has served as a municipal library since the mid-1970s. The building was constructed in the years 1910-1920, when the Art Nouveau style dominated in architecture. The Municipal and District Public Library underwent a general renovation in 2018, the aim of which was, among others, modernisation of interiors and adaptation of rooms to the needs of employees and readers. The choice of lighting was crucial in this project, which is of considerable importance in a place such as a library.
For non-standard rooms
Rectangular MASTER panels with dimensions of 1200x300x10 cm were mounted in rooms and offices. Square MASTER panels measuring 60×60 cm were in turn mounted in corridors. The panels have the option of mounting an emergency module. They were also used in the attic adapted to an office area. LED light well composed with daylight ensures comfortable working in a room of irregular height, where slants predominate.
Limited access to light
MASTER panels were also used in rooms in the basement of the library intended for work, including: in archives. The choice of artificial lighting is of great importance for health and well-being in areas with limited access to daylight. Smaller luminaires proved effective in narrow corridors and small areas – smaller surface-mounted MATIS luminaires were used there.
